146th Call of Seydina Limamou Lahi (PSL): a symbolic visit by the President of the Republic
The President of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, paid a courtesy visit to the General Khalife of the Layenne community.
This meeting took place as part of the preparations for the 146th Call of Seydina Limamou Lahi (PSL), a major religious event for the Layenne community and for the entire Senegalese nation.
This visit reflects the commitment of state authorities to the values of peace, faith, dialogue, and social cohesion upheld by Seydina Limamou Lahi (PSL).

Visit of the Prime Minister
On the occasion of the commemoration of Seydina Limamou Lahi’s Call, the Prime Minister paid a courtesy and prayer visit to the General Khalife of the Layènes.
This visit is part of strengthening the historical ties between the State and the Layène community, based on values of peace, spirituality, social cohesion, and living together. The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings and messages of respect from the country’s highest authorities to the General Khalife and the entire Layène community.
The discussions focused on the importance of preserving the spiritual heritage of Seydina Limamou Lahi, as well as on the essential role of religious leaders in consolidating social peace, stability, and the development of Senegal.
The Layène community, for its part, expressed its prayers and blessings for the country, its leaders, and the Senegalese people, while reaffirming its commitment to the values of faith, tolerance, and solidarity.

Meeting with the General Khalife of the Layennes
On July 28 in Yoff, the Ambassador of the European Union to Senegal, H.E. Mr. Jean-Marc Pisani, had the honor of meeting with the General Khalife of the Layennes, Serigne Mouhamadou Lamine Laye.
This visit was an opportunity to pay tribute to a tradition deeply rooted in peace, tolerance, and inclusion – essential values upheld by the Layenne community, which actively contribute to social cohesion in Senegal.
The Ambassador expressed his sincere condolences following the passing of Serigne Mouhamadou Makhtar Laye, the 6th Khalife of the Layennes, who was called back to God on April 9, 2025.
The discussions focused on:
– Youth and the transmission of values;
– The community’s role in education, migration, and maritime life;
– Commitments to the environment and social justice.
The Ambassador left deeply touched by the welcome from the Khalife and the Layenne community, and inspired by their forward-looking vision.

The Caliph's Activities
The Call of Seydina Limamou Lahi (PSL) in 1883 at Yoff-Layenne marks the birth of the Layenne community. This historic event is the starting point of a spiritual renewal that continues to inspire thousands of followers around the world.
Today, the Call is carried on through the teachings of the General Khalif who guides the community according to the principles established by Seydina Limamou Lahi and his successors.
Every year, commemorations and gatherings are held to celebrate this spiritual heritage and strengthen bonds within the community.

The New General Khalife of the Layènes of Yoff: A New Spiritual Chapter Begins The Layène community, deeply rooted in Senegal's religious and cultural history, welcomes the arrival of its new General Khalife, Serigne Mouhamadou Makhtar Laye (name to be adapted as applicable), appointed to continue the work of his illustrious predecessor and to guide the faithful along the path set by Seydina Limamou Laye (peace be upon him).
